Aileron Bellcrank Brackets

Today I just felt like doing some metal fab so I started on some of the aluminum pieces required for the control system in the wing.

I started with some 6069-T6 aluminum angle to make the brackets for the aileron bellcranks.

I cut and sanded the ends to 4".

Next I laid out all of the holes and used a snap punch to make a small dimple to guide the drill. This will keep the position of the holes very accurate.

All of the holes have been drilled and deburred. Now it is time to round the corners and profile the side where the bell crank mounts.

I deburred all of the edges and finished with some scotchbrite. I will tumble these parts later to polish the surface before sending them to be anodized.

I also made the backing plates that hold the nut plates. These are made from 2024-T3 aluminum .063" thick.

I also started on the backing plates for the landing gear attach points.

Here are the parts, ready for anodize.
