Slip Roll Restoration
I already have a nice 36” Roper Whitney slip roll, but couldn’t pass up this one for $150. These old machine tools deserve a good life, and this one had spent most of its in the HVAC trade.
After a complete disassembly, thorough cleaning, blasting, and repainting, it looks better than new. I cleaned up the castings and even filled in some casting voids with aluminum body filler. After blasting the rolls, I sanded them with 220grit emery cloth in the lathe. The paint is Sherwin Williams Dimenso, the same hammer tone paint Roper Whitney uses from the factory
